Puglia is a region in Southern Italy and occupies the area that is the “heel of the boot.” The region is made up of a Mediterranean landscape, and sits on a peninsula jutting out into the Adriatic and Ionian Seas, lined with almost 500 miles (800km) of coastline.

This coastline is dotted full of secret beaches frequented by locals and travelers from the North, and the inland of Puglia is a landscape of endless olive trees. Amongst these olive trees, along the coast, or nestled with the villages of Southern Italy you will discover local’s homes that have been diligently designed to welcome you into their doors: the most beautiful Airbnb rentals in Puglia.

Depending on you Puglia itinerary, there are a handful of unique Airbnb stays you should consider while in the Puglia region. If you’re looking for some time to immerse yourself in nature and in the sun, then I would recommend booking a masseria or farmhouse, normally set on acres of olive trees. During our nine-day trip through Puglia, we stayed in three different accommodations, a hotel in Matera, a masseria that you can find in this post, and an Airbnb rental located near Alberobello.

Cummersa Monte Olimpo 5, the Airbnb we booked for three nights in Puglia, is located a short ten-minute walk from the famous trulli town of Alberobello. The Airbnb property is from the 18th century, and the footprint is made up of two buildings, the one we stayed in (the cummersa) and a traditional trulli. If you have two families traveling, you can book both properties together, while still having separate living spaces.

The Airbnb is an ideal base location for exploring the trulli in the Valle d’Itria, for visiting the famous trulli town of Alberobello (without having to fight for parking) and for accessing other destinations within Puglia such as Locorotondo, Ostuni, Monopoli and Polignano a Mare.

1) Dimora delle Terrazze: a noble palace with a view (Gallipoli)

The best Airbnb experience I can remember! The space is so well designed and appointed with everything you need, and in the best location to explore the little town and all of southern Puglia. The hosts were generous enough to provide a custom guide book for the area, as well as a welcome basket with snacks. We would come back again and again!

2) Caelum Aria home in Ostuni centre w/terrace (Ostuni)

One of the most beautiful Airbnb I’ve stayed in. Perfect location in ostuni, close to the center. Amazing view on the rooftop. Extremely clean and newly renovated. Well decorated, the hosts have great taste and you will find everything you need in the Airbnb. They are also very helpful with recommandations and communication was easy and quick. You will have a great sunset on the rooftop, would recommend and go back.

3) Calumàre (Polignano a mare)

Loved the location, interiors, decor and layout of this authentically designed apartment in the heart of Polignano a Mare. Quiet and peaceful, despite being in the heart of one of the prettiest (and busiest) squares with restaurants, bars and more. Rooftop terrace was one of the best places catch the sunset at golden hour - and comes fully equipped with everything you need for an al fresco dinner at home. Great host and excellent recommendations for restaurants - we loved our stay as a family of 4 in Polignano.

4) The Villa Ostuni - Puglia (Ostuni)

Incredible property in the middle of fields of olive trees… just 10 minutes from the city, yet you feel like your hours away from anyone. The property grounds are set behind a gate and as you drive down a graveled road, you come upon a beautiful crisp and modern home just perfect enough for a couple or two. The pool is an incredible visual accent to the property, although we were not able to use it due to a couple days of rain and a busy schedule. Still, on a couple sunny days, we were able to enjoy a nice coffee around it. The interior is decorated very simple and chic while the color palette complimented the house structure and vibe. Communication was 100% on point with the host. Would most definitely stay there again in a heart beat. Thank you for a memorable stay!

5) Modern and designer house in downtown (Nardò)

Best!! Everything was great quality, super clean and smelt so good. As soon as you enter it’s stairs to the living room, bedrooms and bathrooms then next set of stairs take you to the kitchen and terrace. The photos are extremely accurate. There’s free parking on the street. It’s really close to Nardo old town so you can just walk. We didn’t even bother exploring Puglia cause we were so content hanging out at the place.

Wow! What an incredible and peaceful place to stay. We were lucky to have some sunshine and spend some time on the lounges by the pool and it was complete bliss. Located just outside Ostuni, the property is quiet and beautifully designed and a great base to explore Puglia. Exactly like the pictures the place felt like something out of a design magazine. Equipped with everything you need we felt right at home and were very comfortable. A hugely memorable place to stay that I would highly recommend!

7) Manzoni Palace - Private house with terrace (Monopoli)

This place is a gem in Monopoli and I can’t wait to arrange my next stay there! The place looks even more beautiful than in the pictures and is very tastefully decorated. The roof terrace is an added bonus and we would have our coffees there each morning. The location at the edge of the old town is perfect as you’re away from the hustle and bustle but only 5 mins away on foot from the centre of Monopoli. Luana was our contact during the stay and she was very responsive and helpful with recommendations on local beaches and restaurants. I highly recommend a stay here for a trip to Puglia!

8) Palazzo Bergamotti 3 (ostuni)

Where to start with Francesca and Palazzo Bargamotti! That was one of the best experiences we had in a guest house. First of all Francesca was waiting for us on arrival even though we arrived past midnight and of course with a big smile! The property is beautiful and was very clean, and you can clearly see how attentive she is for all the details. The interior is very comfortable, the architecture of this newly renovated house is impressive, and the bathroom was a real Spa experience! The mattress and pillows were just amazing, you can just say value for money! The kitchen was equipped with everything you need. Well you can just live there! Along our stay Francesca was always available for any questions we had, she recommended amazing local restaurants, secluded beaches, shops… the list goes on... We just felt at home! And on top of all that there was a private parking in the property which is a rare find in Ostuni! The house location is central and in a quiet area, just few steps away from the center where there are all the shops and restaurants. We thank you Francesca for everything and i hope we come back here another time! Well it feels like we have a home in Ostuni now :)

Laurita was an amazing host and this apartment is so beautiful. It has 4 different terraces and is so bright, with all amenities that you would need. I highly recommend staying here, and Matino is such a cute town and a good place to explore the rest of Puglia from. Laurita, thank you so much for your kindness and generosity, I really enjoyed my stay!

10) Masseria del Gigante (Carpignano Salentino)

One of the most incredible stays of my life! Staff service is on par with the nicest 5 star hotels around the world. The entire team at this property (check in, cleaning, maintenance guys) will go above and beyond! Arrived to a table of fresh fruits, vegetables and olive oil from the grounds. We woke up to guys picking up dead leaves outside and fluffing pillows, then Ada, the housekeeper, would arrive to make your bed, clean the kitchen and change towels. The property is stunning and the pool is perfection. Do not miss this stay! And stick with their list of recommendations around Puglia. 11) La Pietrachiara: a white gem with panoramic view (Ostuni)

Ostuni is amazing and Ludovica’s place is stunning! We loved the cave like rooms and the beautiful rooftop terrace. It was just close enough to the city center to reach it easily but far enough away to be in a quiet and peaceful neighborhood. Ludovica had a great welcome basket with goodies for us as well as a guide with local recommendations. Marco, her helper, had a lot of great recommendations as well and was very kind and helpful. We would definitely stay here again, we wish we could have stayed longer!

Elena’s space was the perfect combination of historical architecture and modern interiors. All of the spaces were bright, pristine and welcoming and we especially loved how private the outdoor space felt. We walked a few times to Alberobello from the property which was a short 10-minutes along beautiful olive groves and wild flowers. The building is in a very quiet neighborhood but is completely surrounded by olive trees so it feels like your own little part of Puglia. The property is perfectly located to visit the highlights in the area like Locorontondo, Monopoli, Polignano a Mare and the beaches. Our stay was perfect in every way.
